The pain that is usually felt after exercising or doing strenuous physical activity. However, under certain conditions, rheumatic pain can be a sign of disease that you should be aware of.

Anyone, including athletes who exercise regularly, can feel pain. Rheumatic pain can be felt in various parts of the body such as the neck, back, hands and feet. Recognize the difference between rheumatic exercise and sports disease, so you no longer react wrong to it.

Recognize the pain caused by exercise

Rheumatic pain caused by exercise usually occurs when a person starts exercising, which increases the duration or increases the intensity of normal exercise. Pain occurs when the muscles are under excessive physical pressure. It could also be because the muscles work harder than usual.

Rheumatic pain is usually felt immediately after physical exercise or intense physical activity. However, there is also rheumatic pain that is felt only 1 to 2 days after exercise. This condition is called delayed muscle pain. This rheumatic pain occurs because pressure causes small tears in the muscles, when the muscles try to adapt to current physical activity. In general, rheumatic pain gradually decreases after the muscles become accustomed to routine exercise.

Physical exercise pain usually goes away by itself after one or two days or at least five days. There are several ways to relieve rheumatic pain caused by exercise, such as:

  • Enough rest
  • Do a massage
  • Cold compresses in areas of rheumatic pain
  • Take anti-inflammatory and anti-pain medications as directed by your doctor.

To minimize the risk of rheumatic pain, it is recommended to warm up before exercising. Also, don't change the intensity and duration of the exercise to the extreme. Change gradually so that the muscles can adapt from time to time.

However, if rheumatic pain is very annoying and does not go away, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Especially if the swelling or bruising appears in areas that feel rheumatic pain.

Mark rheumatic symptoms as a disease
On the other hand, rheumatic pain can also be caused by side effects from drug use and symptoms of certain diseases or infections. In this situation, rheumatic pain can be felt in any part of the body for no apparent reason.

Sciatica can occur as a result of taking statin cholesterol drugs, high blood pressure medications, ACE inhibitors or viral infections such as influenza, bacterial infections, arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus and thyroid disease.

It is advisable to consult a doctor, especially if rheumatic pain does not seem to disappear when it has been treated, especially if accompanied by:

  • Muscle feels very weak
  • hard to breathe
  • Headache or rotation
  • His neck is stiff
  • High fever
  • Swelling or redness around the diseased muscle
  • There are lice or mites on the sick body part
  • The color of the urine becomes darker

Do not underestimate the sensation of rheumatic pain in the body. Check with your doctor to see if rheumatic pain continues to interfere with your activities because it might be a sign of a serious condition.
