A decrease in fever can be a sign of 3 diseases

The rise and fall of a fever cannot be considered trivial. This condition may be a symptom of an infectious disease such as typhus, malaria or dengue fever. In cases of late treatment, fever that rises and falls due to illness can cause serious complications.

It is said that a person has a fever if his body temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius or more. Fluctuating fever is characterized by an increase in body temperature that fluctuates. Fever can appear today, disappear tomorrow, then reappear the next day. Fever can also fluctuate during the day.
The disease causes fever

There are three diseases that usually cause fluctuating fever, namely:

typhus

Typhus is an infectious disease that is easily transmitted. This disease is transmitted through consumption of food or drinks infected with Salmonella bacteria. This is most common in areas with poor sanitation and limited access to clean water.

Usually, patients will feel sick for 7 to 14 days after being infected with bacteria. Other symptoms that will also appear are abdominal pain, diarrhea or feces that are difficult, weak, and high fever up to 39-40 degrees Celsius.

Typhoid fever patterns tend to fluctuate. In the morning, body temperature can go down and up throughout the day. Typically, fever temperatures increase from day to day.

Typhus requires medical treatment. Because if not, the symptoms may worsen and can cause life-threatening complications.

Dengue fever

Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of the A. aegypti mosquito infected with the dengue virus. This disease, which is usually endemic in the rainy season, has early symptoms such as chills, reddish spots on the skin and reddened face that can last 2 to 3 days.

Typical symptoms of dengue fever are bursts of fever accompanied by high temperatures during the first 2-7 days. Peak fever can reach 40 ° C or higher. After that, body temperature drops for several days, then rises again but not as much as before.

The symptoms that will also manifest themselves in dengue cases are: severe headaches, back pain, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite and bleeding due to decreased platelet count, such as nosebleeds.

These symptoms usually appear 4 to 7 days after dengue virus infection and last up to 10 days.

malaria

Endemic diseases in this tropical region, including Indonesia, are transmitted through the bite of the Anopheles mosquito, the carrier of the parasite responsible for malaria.

Symptoms of malaria usually appear within 7 to 15 days of a patient being bitten by a mosquito carrying a malaria parasite. But there are also symptoms that don't appear until a year later.

The first symptoms of malaria are fever, headache, sweating, chills, vomiting and sometimes accompanied by muscle aches, diarrhea, and discomfort.

The fluctuating pattern of malaria fever continues every 24 to 72 hours, depending on the type of infected parasite. At the beginning of this cycle, the patient will be cold and shivering. After that, fever appears accompanied by fatigue and perspiration. Fever usually lasts from 6 to 12 hours.

In addition to the three diseases above, fever fluctuations can also be caused by other infectious diseases, such as brucellosis, leptospirosis and viral hepatitis; and periodic fever syndrome caused by heredity.

If you have a fever, consult your doctor immediately to make sure the disease you are suffering from. The doctor will do a physical examination and additional tests, such as blood and urine tests, to make the diagnosis.

Once the cause of the fever is known, your doctor will give you the right treatment to treat the disease and prevent dangerous complications.
