Pilocarpine

Pilocarpine eye drops are myotic drugs, which are eye drops that can reduce pupils. Pilocarpine eye drops are used to treat glaucoma, especially acute glaucoma and closed angle. This type of glaucoma is caused by sudden high eye pressure due to a blockage that prevents fluid in the eyeball from flowing properly. This condition causes the eyes to become sore, reddened and cause blindness.

Pilocarpine
Pilocarpine eye drops work by narrowing the pupils. With small pupils, will open the flow of fluid in the eyeball so that it can come out and reduce eye pressure.

Correct use of eye drops with pilocarpine

Follow the doctor's advice and read the information in the pilocarpine drops package before using it.

Wash your hands with clean water and soap before using medicine. Be careful not to touch the tip of the medicine bottle so it is not contaminated. Gently drop the medication into the eyes, then close your eyes for 2-3 minutes. Avoid pressing the eyelids, rubbing or winking excessively, so the medicine works well. Rest for 5 minutes if you need more than one drop of medicine.

If you want to combine pilocarpine drops with other eye drops, leave a 10 minute interval.

Always wash your hands after using medicine. Also clean the remaining medicine at the end of the package with a clean tissue. Do not clean the tip of the medicine with water.

During treatment with pilocarpine, consult with your doctor regularly, if this is planned. This is important so that the evolution of the disease can always be monitored.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature. Avoid storing medicine in a hot or humid place. Keep the drug out of the reach of children. If the drug has been opened, don't use it again if it's been more than 4 weeks, even if it's still there.
