What are the signs of someone with a broken bone?

When viewing, fractures can be identified by examining the following symptoms:

  • If possible, apply a cold compress to reduce pain and swelling. Remember that ice cubes should not be applied directly to the skin. Wrap ice cubes in a cloth or towel if you want to use it as a compress.
  • Take steps to avoid shocks. The trick is to place the patient with feet about 30 cm taller than the head and then cover the patient to keep warm.

The thing to remember is that the steps above are only temporary before professional medical treatment. When the ambulance and medical staff have arrived, give this task to those who are more competent.

Do not do these things

Even if you intend to give first aid to someone who has broken bones, you still need to know what you shouldn't do. This is intended to prevent complications due to your ignorance. Some limitations include:

  • Do not move someone who is suspected to have broken bones, unless the broken part is stable.
  • Do not change positions or move people with broken bones to the pelvis or upper thighs unless absolutely necessary. Even if you have to do it for safety reasons, pull the patient's clothes to move it. Don't pull parts of your body right away.
  • Never move people who might have broken vertebrae.
  • Straighten bones that appear to be broken. However, this step may be forced if blood circulation in the area of ​​the broken bone looks obstructed and there are no medical personnel around you.
  • Don't try to move a broken bone, however small.

Broken bones need medical treatment as soon as possible. In addition to restoring the relationship between fractures, early treatment will also reduce the risk of complications in the form of permanent disability.
