The cut behind the ear is the cause

Some conditions can cause size behind the ear, what is it? Beware of various diseases that can cause these symptoms.

In most cases, the ball behind the ear is harmless and rarely develops into a death threat. Pieces behind the ear can usually be cured by taking medicine given by a doctor. But in some cases, this mass can indicate other more serious health problems.
Bacterial and viral infections, such as strep throat infections and mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus), can cause swelling in and around the neck and face, causing lumps in the ears. In addition, a lump behind the ear can also be caused by infection with HIV / AIDS, measles and smallpox. Here are some infections that cause mass behind the ear.

Otitis media

Otitis media is an infection of the middle ear. This infection can cause inflammation (swelling and redness) and a buildup of fluid behind the eardrum. These symptoms can cause a lump behind the ear that can be seen.

Most otitis media can go away on its own without requiring treatment within 3-5 days. But if necessary, you can take ibuprofen or paracetamol to relieve high fever and pain. You will definitely be more effective at a doctor if you find a mass behind the ear.

Mastoiditis

If your ear infection is not treated, middle ear bacteria can spread to the mastoid bone behind the ear and cause mastoiditis. The result will be a hump behind the ear accompanied by pus, fever, inflammation, and ear discharge. Mastoiditis can be treated with oral antibiotics, ear drops and regular ear cleaning by a doctor. If treatment fails, surgery may be needed to prevent further complications.

Abscess

An abscess occurs when the body fights against bacteria or viruses that cause infections in cells or tissues. To fight viruses or bacteria, our bodies send white blood cells to infected areas, such as behind the ear. White blood cells, bacteria, cells and body tissues that fight and die then accumulate as pus and cause lumps behind the ears.

Small abscesses tend to shrink, dry out and disappear naturally without any treatment. However, larger abscesses must be treated with antibiotics. Pus must also be dried with the help of a doctor.

lymphadenopathy
Adenopathies are swollen lymph nodes which are usually caused by infection, inflammation or cancer. Not surprisingly, the glands under the arms, neck, pelvis, and behind the ears swell at any time, but don't hesitate to consult a doctor immediately if a lump appears behind your ear.

Another cause

Apart from infections, there are several other causes that can cause obesity in the ear, including:
  • Lipoma, a mass of fat that develops between layers of the skin. It can grow anywhere, including behind the ear and is almost always harmless.
  • Zits.
  • Sebaceous cysts, no cancerous lumps that appear around the sebaceous glands.

Most lumps behind the ear tend to be harmless, but it is safer if you see a doctor immediately if this happens.
