Causes of hypertension

Hypertension is divided into primary and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension is not known the exact cause.

Whereas secondary hypertension is usually caused by various conditions such as:

  • Kidney illness
  • Pregnancy
  • Disease of the thyroid gland
  • Adrenal gland tumors
  • Congenital abnormalities in blood vessels
  • Alcohol dependence
  • addiction
  • Respiratory disorders occur during sleep (sleep apnea).
  • Take certain medications, such as cold medicines, painkillers, cold cough medicines, or birth control pills.

Most hypertension has primary hypertension without a known cause. Several factors can increase your risk of developing hypertension, including:

  • Age. As we get older, the risk of developing hypertension increases. Hypertension in men usually occurs at the age of 45, whereas in women it usually occurs above the age of 65 years.
  • Hereditary Hypertension is likely to occur in people from families with a history of hypertension
  • Obesity. Weight gain also causes nutrients and oxygen to enter cells through blood vessels. This causes increased pressure on the blood vessels and heart.
  • Eat too much salt or consume too little food containing potassium. This can produce high levels of sodium in the blood, so that fluid is retained and increases pressure in the blood vessels.
  • Lack of physical activity and exercise This situation can cause an increase in heart rate. The heart must work harder to pump blood. Lack of physical activity and exercise can also cause weight gain, a risk factor for hypertension.
  • Smoke. Chemicals in cigarettes can reduce the tightness of blood vessels, thereby increasing pressure on blood vessels and the heart.
