Cervical cancer usually does not cause symptoms in the early stages. New symptoms appear when cancer enters an advanced phase. In this condition, the symptoms that appear can be:

• Vaginal bleeding outside of menstruation, after intercourse or after menopause.
• Loss of odor from the vagina, which sometimes mixes with blood.
• The pain occurs every time you have sex.
• Pelvic pain.

When the cancer spreads to the surrounding tissue, the following other symptoms may appear:

• Diarrhea
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Convulsions.
• Loss of appetite.
• Weight loss
• Stomach swells.
• Pain when urinating.
• There is blood in the urine (hematuria).
• Rectal bleeding in the stool.
• Swelling in the legs.
• The body gets tired easily.

Seek medical attention immediately if you experience vaginal bleeding after menopause. Although usually caused by cervical cancer, this disease can also be caused by other conditions, such as uterine polyps or vaginal dryness.
