The health of the mother and child was only discovered by neighbors the next day when neighbors who passed by her house suspected that blood flowed from the floor of her house. At the opening, the mother and newborn baby are dead.

The same thing happened to a 22-year-old woman in Turkey. The difference is, he managed to give birth to her baby in a hotel room and managed to survive with her baby.

3 risks of giving birth to a mother

Possible risks for mothers trying to give birth themselves are:

1. The work process is extended

Prolonged labor occurs if the mother gives birth in a longer period than usual. This is caused by the lack of progress in opening jobs.

A mother will be considered to have extended work if the birth process lasts more than 20 hours on the first birth and more than 14 hours on the next birth.

When you give birth, you don't know the size of your baby or pelvis which is the birth canal. These two factors are important in determining whether a baby can be born normally. Babies whose pelvis is too tall or narrow because their babies cannot be born and endanger their babies.

The work process is prolonged and the absence of assistants to help will make someone more afraid and pressured to deal with the work itself. Efforts to push the baby out before the scheduled time must also cause fatigue and make pregnant women unable to provide optimal energy.

2. Postpartum hemorrhage

During the birth process, the mother will experience bleeding. This can not be avoided, but can be controlled so that blood loss does not reach an amount that is harmful to the mother and baby.

The assistant controls bleeding after childbirth by assessing the presence of trauma to the birth canal and providing drugs to strengthen uterine contractions. In addition, retention of the placenta, which is a condition of the placenta that cannot be removed or remains partially in the uterus, can also prevent bleeding from stopping.

The situation of the mother giving birth herself is very dangerous because she cannot take the necessary actions to stop the bleeding. Losing a lot of blood can kill a mother.

3. Fetal distress

Fetal distress is a life-threatening condition in infants. If you don't get the right help right away, the baby cannot be saved.

Some things that can cause fetal distress, namely lack of oxygen, anemia in the mother, hypertension during pregnancy, and lack of amniotic fluid and meconium mixture. The condition of the umbilical cord in the baby can also prevent the baby from receiving enough oxygen.

During labor, a nurse (midwife / nurse) regularly checks that her baby is in good health. This cannot be done if the mother gives birth on her own.

In addition to the above conditions, many risks may arise for mothers who give birth on their own. Although there are cases of mothers who have successfully delivered themselves, the risks involved will far outweigh the benefits.
