Bleeding during young pregnancy: types, causes and tips for overcoming it
Bleeding (bleeding) during pregnancy often occurs, especially during the first trimester. Although bleeding during early pregnancy is normal, some bleeding conditions may indicate a serious danger. For this, you need to know the following types of bleeding so as not to turn off.
Types and Causes of Bleeding During Young Pregnancies
There are various types of bleeding and their causes. Although it's not all dangerous, you must stay alert and understand the different types of bleeding. Among others are:
1. Implantation bleeding
This implantation bleeding is in the form of blood spots such as menstruation and occurs during the first 6 to 12 days after fertilization. Implantation usually lasts several hours to several days. There are many cases where a woman does not realize that she is pregnant because she considers bleeding related to implantation to be normal.
2. Susceptible miscarriage (first 12 weeks of pregnancy)
This is due to the condition of the fetus in the ovary which is still very weak. Physical contact, certain foods or drinks can cause miscarriage. Apart from bleeding, the symptoms of miscarriage are also accompanied by severe cramps in the lower abdomen and tissue around the vaginal area.
3. Ectopic pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancy is a condition in which an embryo is fertilized outside the uterus or fertilized in the fallopian tube. If it continues to grow, the embryo can scratch the fallopian tube, which has the potential to threaten the life of the mother.
In fact, this dangerous situation occurs in about 2% of pregnancy cases. In addition to pregnancy, other ectopic symptoms include cramps or severe pain in the lower abdomen.
4. Mola pregnancy
The next type of bleeding is molar pregnancy or also known as gravidarine trophoblast disease. Molar pregnancy is a rare disease in which several types of abnormal tissue develop in the uterus.
In some cases (very rare), this tissue is cancerous and can spread to other parts of the body. In addition to bleeding, molar pregnancy is also characterized by severe nausea and vomiting and uterine hypertrophy that occurs very quickly.
In addition to the various types of bleeding described above, the following factors also include triggers for bleeding during pregnancy:
- Collar changes. During pregnancy, a lot of blood flows to the cervix. A sexual test or PAP (which causes contact with the cervix) can trigger bleeding. But this condition is not worrying.
- Any cervical, vaginal, or sexually transmitted infections (such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, or herpes) can cause bleeding in the first trimester.
So, what should we do if there is bleeding during the first trimester?
First aid for bleeding early in the trimester
Don't panic when you experience bleeding in the first trimester. You can follow the following tips:
- Consult immediately and contact a doctor to discuss symptoms.
- Use a mat or container to determine the volume of blood released, its color (pink, brown or red) and its consistency (watery or thick).
- Give the membrane that comes out of the vagina to the doctor to test it.
- Do not use tampons or have sex during bleeding.
The first quarter is full of risk. So, take care of your baby's health and future.
