Nausea in early pregnancy: causes and treatment

Nausea in early pregnancy: causes and treatment

Morning sickness is a nausea condition during early pregnancy and usually occurs in the morning. More than half of pregnant women experience this condition, especially in the first trimester.

At some level, morning sickness is dangerous for pregnancy. As a precaution, find the cause and how to overcome it.

Causes morning sickness

Although there is no evidence of specific causes of nausea during young pregnancy, the following factors are thought to be triggers:

  • Increased estrogen levels.
  • Increased sensitivity to certain scents or odors.
  • Production of the human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) hormone. HCG is automatically produced by the body after the fertilization process. It is estimated that this condition is a trigger for morning sickness.
  • Urinary tract infection.
  • Young women traveling, who are pregnant with their first child, use contraceptives containing estrogen, twins or obesity are more likely to experience morning sickness during their young pregnancy.

Tips to reduce the effects of nausea in early pregnancy

Basically, the causes and ways to treat morning sickness vary between individuals and others. It depends on the physical condition and environment of the individual. However, you can try to minimize the effects of the following tips:

  • Avoid empty stomach by increasing the frequency of eating small portions (eat a little, but often).
  • Take a multivitamin regularly to reduce the effects of nausea in young pregnant women. However, avoid taking multivitamins on an empty stomach, because this will worsen the situation.
  • Stay away from smells or odors that make your stomach feel nauseous.
  • Eat salty crackers, dry bread or dry cereal when you wake up.
  • Avoid spicy and oily foods.
  • Eat soft foods that are easily digested, such as rice, bananas, chicken broth or jelly.
  • Drink cold water, tea (which is not too thick) or soda when you experience nausea.

And does morning sickness continue even after following the tips above?
Nausea in early pregnancy must be wary of

Even though morning sickness is normal, one must remain vigilant if the severity reaches a certain level. Contact immediately and consult a doctor if possible:

  • If you have flu-like symptoms, this can be a sign of serious illness.
  • Feeling dizzy, lethargic and body feels very weak.
  • Severe vomiting continuously or several times a day can be a symptom of hyperemesis gravidarum.
  • Cannot consume food, drink or drinks
  • Have a strong stomachache.
  • High fever (38 degrees Celsius or higher).

Each of these symptoms must be examined and immediately followed to prevent worsening of the disease. May be useful!
