Fetus Development from Month to Month

After fertilization in the womb, the fetus will continue to grow from month to month. The development of the fetus every month is different, both in terms of size, trained body organs and physical abilities. Understanding fetal development must help improve one's health.
During the first four weeks of pregnancy, you may not experience any symptoms. The only sign of pregnancy that you might feel is that your periods are late. Although symptoms in early pregnancy are rarely felt, the fetus in the womb has begun to develop since conception.

Fetus Development from Month to Month
Fetal development in the first trimester

The following stages of fetal development during the first trimester of pregnancy or the first three months:

  • First month
After fertilization, the initial stage of embryonic development is the zygote. Zygotes will enter the uterus and form morula, which are groups of cells that resemble raspberries. In addition, morula will go through several stages of embryonic development. During the first month, the amniotic sac is formed to protect the embryo by wrapping it tightly. Physical fetus also begins to form in the first month, marked by the appearance of areas such as dark circles on the face which then develop in the eye. Physical development also includes the lower jaw and mouth, and the throat that grows in it. Apart from the physical fetus, the placenta also begins to form in the first month. Emrio receives nutrients from the mother which are distributed throughout the placenta. This flat, round organ is also used to channel fetal excrement. Although the size of the embryo is only 6 to 7 mm, blood circulation has begun. This is marked by the formation of blood cells.
  • Second month
During the second month, bones begin to form. A network of central nervous systems has also formed, namely the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerve tissue. In the fifth week, the heart begins to form, along with the circulatory system, forming small folds on both sides of the head, which are the predecessors of the ear. The face continues to grow. In addition, the first form of hand and foot growth begins to emerge: the size of the embryo at the end of the second month is about 2.5 cm and weighs 9.5 g, the head is one-third the size of the entire body.
  • Third month
In the third month, internal organs begin to develop. The liver starts producing bile, the urinary system starts functioning, the circulatory system also starts functioning. In fact, the reproductive organs have begun to enlarge, but sex can not be determined even after ultrasound. The fetal body has formed more fully, already has arms, legs, feet, ears and teeth. The fingers and nails have also begun to form. The fetus can open its mouth and clench its fist. The size of the fetus in the third month is 7.5 to 10 cm and weighs 28 g.

Fetal development in the second trimester
As you enter the second trimester of pregnancy, you begin to hear the fetal heartbeat during the pregnancy test. The sex of the fetus grows and you can begin to feel its movements.

  • Fourth month
At this stage, the male fetus already has a prostate and the female fetus has begun to show follicles in the ovaries. Fetal bones grow more and more. On the head there is a visible hair pattern. Meanwhile, on the face, eyes are turned forward and begin to move. The position of the ear is also in place. The mouth of the fetus begins to suck. At 14 weeks, fetal length reaches 85 mm and weighs around 40 g.
  • Fifth month
All fetal skin is covered with a white layer that protects the amniotic fluid. This white layer will be released by itself at the time the fetus will be born. Fetal muscles have developed in the fifth month and the fetus can begin to move to train the muscles. His hair grows on the head. The back and shoulders of the fetus are also covered with fine hair that will disappear in the second week after the baby's birth. The length of the fetus at the end of the month is 160 mm.
  • Sixth month
The fetal eyelids are clear and the eyes can open. Veins appear through the skin of the fetus because the skin has appeared with a smooth texture and wrinkles, with a reddish color. Fetal pulses may increase, indicating that the fetus responds to stimulation, especially when hearing outside sounds. The fingers and toes of the fetus are clearly visible. This month, the fetus is usually around 190 mm long and weighs 460 g.

Fetal development in the third quarter

When you enter the third trimester of your pregnancy, you usually can't wait to see your baby's face right away. This is the development of the fetus entering the last trimester.

  • Seventh month
The fetus can react to light, feel pain, hear sounds, and change posture. Fetal hearing begins to develop and the body begins to store fat. In the seventh month, fetal length reaches 36 cm with a weight between 900 and 1800 g.
  • Eighth month
By the eighth month, the inside of the fetus has grown better. The part that is formed but not perfect is the lungs. Parts of the brain grow faster than the previous month. Body fat stores will increase with increasing age of the fetus. The baby moves more actively, marked by a firmer kick. At this time, the fetus is 46 cm tall and weighs 2.27 kg (kg).
  • Ninth month
The body of the fetus at this time, both inside and outside, is more perfect. Eyes and ears can work well. The fetus is also more sensitive to stimuli in the form of touch and light. Parts of the lungs are almost fully developed. The fetus prepares to be born with a movable position, the head turned toward the genital tract and the body occupies the lower part of the mother's pelvis.

When monitoring fetal development from month to month, you also need to stay healthy. You can consult with your doctor to monitor problems with pregnancy disorders and plan how labor will be experienced later.
