Miscellaneous Induction of Labor that Pregnancy Mothers Need to Know
Under normal conditions, babies are born throughout the world through the vagina shortly after pregnant women show signs of labor. But in some situations, the sign does not appear either, so pregnant women must have work triggers.
Induction is the method chosen by doctors to stimulate contractions in pregnant women. However, you may not cause childbirth until 39 weeks of pregnancy, unless the medical factors that underlie it.
Why do pregnant women have to undergo work induction?
Before deciding to start work, many doctors plan to take actions ranging from medical to non-medical factors. Non-medical factors, for example, your home is too far from the hospital, making it too dangerous to suffer heartburn at any time and the lack of medical staff on your side.
Although medical factors can include life-threatening complications for the mother, fetus, or both. This condition, for example pregnant women suffer from pre-eclampsia, diabetes, gestational diabetes, depletion or volume of infected amniotic fluid, to the rupture of membranes that are not accompanied by burns. stomach.
If you are 42 weeks pregnant but there are no birthmarks, you can also start work. Signs of childbirth include:
- Constant Contractions: Contractions look like menstrual cramps or lower back pain. At the beginning of a contraction, this pain can appear every 20-30 minutes, but it will be more intense with shorter pauses if the opening of your birth is greater (for example every 3 to 5 minutes).
- Bloody phlegm appears: this indicates that the cervix is relaxed and ready for the baby to pass through at work, but not all pregnant women have this sign.
- You can breathe again: show that the fetal sac no longer presses on the diaphragm because it has already begun to enter the pelvis.
- Rupture of the membrane: marked with water flowing clearly from your vagina.
- Feeling fit: it is the opposite of the symptoms of pregnancy where someone wants to rest permanently.
How to provoke work safely?
If you really need to get work done to feel a contraction, there are several methods and steps your doctor can take, namely:
- Tearing the membrane: the doctor will insert his finger into your vagina to reach the membrane that covers the amniotic fluid. Then rub the membrane into the uterine wall until it tears, so that the body releases the hormone prostaglandin, which relaxes the cervix that passes through the baby's birth canal. However, this method does not necessarily work.
- Amniotomy: The doctor inserts a plastic hook to tear the membrane that surrounds the amniotic fluid. If this procedure is successful, you will experience heartburn and childbirth within a few hours.
- Give the hormone prostaglandin: this hormone can be in the form of a gel or capsule inserted into the vagina or in the form of capsules that you must drink. This method is usually done the day before your delivery date to soften your cervix so that the baby's birth canal is wide open. Prostaglandins can also be given before your doctor prescribes the hormone oxytocin.
- Oxytocin, a hormone that stimulates contractions, is given by injection into a vein. Medications containing the hormone oxytocin (called Pitocin) are initially given in small doses and increase with opening.
Induction of natural work
In addition to the medical methods above, several natural induction methods are also expected to produce contractions. These methods include:
- Light exercise, for example walking.
- Having sex and secreting sperm in the vagina can stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone that is not carried out when the amniotic fluid ruptures because it can cause infection.
- Massage the nipples which also stimulate the release of oxytocin, a hormone.
- It is thought that acupuncture and acupressure stimulate the body to release oxytocin, a hormone, but be sure to do it with the help of professionals.
Eating spicy food is also considered a natural work induction. However, if you can't stand the spicy taste, you don't have to do it, because the success of stimulating the contraction of spicy foods has also not been proven medically.
The end result of labor induction is the onset of heartburn or labor contractions that continue to form the opening of the genital tract (openings 1-10). If this sign does not appear, the doctor will advise you to give birth by cesarean section.
