Normal childbirth, how is the process?
Childbirth is something that a mother expects after about 9 months of pregnancy. If you have to follow the normal delivery process, this will help you learn important things about normal labor as a means of work preparation.
Signs of childbirth
No one can predict when the work will happen to pregnant women. Estimated Birthday (HPL) given by a doctor is just a reference. Very normal if the mother gives birth three weeks before HPL or no later than two weeks after HPL. Here are the signs of labor nearing.
1. bright
Sunny is a condition where the baby's head falls into the pelvis, so the stomach will look lower in anticipation of birth. In this phase, the mother will breathe better because the baby no longer fills the lungs. Mothers will also have more desire to urinate when the baby presses on the bladder. This phase usually lasts a few hours before work.
2. There are blood stains
Spots of blood or yellowish or brown fluid coming out of the cervix are the removal of mucosal obstruction that has covered the uterus with infection. This can occur several days before or before shipment.
3. Frequent bowel movements
The longer the labor is tight during the labor process, usually the mother will tend to defecate.
4. the membrane is damaged
Fluid that comes out of the vagina shows that the membrane that surrounds and protects the baby has broken. This occurs several hours before the start of work or during work. Most women give birth within 24 hours. If work does not occur naturally during this period, the doctor will encourage it to prevent infections and complications during labor.
5. Contractions
Although it does not contract continuously, but if the contraction occurs less than once every 10 minutes, it usually indicates that work will begin.
The normal stage of labor
Work is usually divided into three stages, namely:
1. The first normal stage of labor
The first phase of the work is divided into three phases, namely latent, active and in transition.
The latent phase is the longest and least intense phase. During this phase, contractions will occur more frequently because cervical enlargement will allow the baby to pass through the uterine canal.
Discomfort at this stage is still minimal, but the mother's cervix will begin to widen and disappear / become thinner. If contractions begin to occur regularly, the mother will be hospitalized to check the size of the cervical opening.
During the active phase, the cervix will begin to develop faster. In this phase, the mother will experience severe pain or pressure on the back or abdomen at each contraction.
In addition, the mother will feel something that will push, but the doctor will ask the mother not to push until the cervix is open or fully open.
The transition phase is the phase in which the cervix has fully developed to 10 cm. The contractions are very strong, painful and occur every 3-4 minutes and last from 60 to 90 seconds.
2. The second phase of labor is normal
The second stage of normal labor begins when the cervix is fully open. At this point, the doctor will give the mother a signal to push along with the upcoming contractions. The mother will encourage the baby to come out through the birth canal so that the fontanelle (fine spots) on the baby's head can enter through a narrow path.
The baby's head will continue to the vaginal opening until he can get out. When the head is outside, the doctor breathes in amniotic fluid, blood and mucus from the nose and mouth.
The mother's struggle is not over here, she must continue to push the baby's shoulders and body out following the head that comes out. After the baby comes out, the doctor will tighten it and cut the baby's umbilical cord.
3. The third normal stage of labor
After the birth of the baby, the mother enters the final phase of work. At this point, the doctor will remove the placenta and organs that feed the baby into the uterus.
Every woman has a different delivery experience during a normal delivery and some stages require longer or shorter time.
For women who have undergone the first job usually lasts about 12-14 hours. For further work, the process will be shorter and faster.
