Obesity in children triggers liver disease at an early age

Obesity in children triggers liver disease at an early age
Many people think that fat, healthy and healthy children are healthy and sweet. In fact, fat does not always mean healthy. In January 2017, the Ministry of Health published in a press release that cases of obesity among Indonesian children had tripled. Don't underestimate the risk of obesity in children. Obese children have the potential to develop various types of chronic diseases as adults, called diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Obesity also increases the risk of liver disease in children in our country in the future.
Obesity in children causes liver steatosis
Excessive fat deposits will be stored in various parts of the body. For example, under the skin, in the cavity around the stomach, waist and hips, up to the chest. In addition, excess fat can also be stored in the liver (liver). This then causes a disease called foie gras.

Foie gras is more common among older obese people, but the trend now seems to change. One study shows that at least 5 to 17% of the world's population of children suffer from fatty liver disease even in adolescence.

If we continue to let foie gras survive, this condition can increase the risk of two fatal chronic liver diseases, namely cirrhosis and liver cancer. Cirrhosis is a chronic inflammatory infection that causes many scars in the liver. As a result, the size of the liver will be reduced and will be accompanied by premature decline in various functions.

During this time, degradation of liver function occurs continuously without changes in lifestyle at high risk of causing malignant tumors in the liver that have become precursors of cancer. Liver cancer for decades is still considered a "parental disease". But in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of cases among people aged 20 to 30 years.
How to prevent?
1. Introduce a healthy lifestyle as early as possible

Age of children and adolescents is the most optimal process of growth and development. Nutrient intake from food is very important to support the process, but of course there are rules.

Get children used to eating regularly and filling their food plates with a balanced diet of healthy foods. Also familiarize your children with balancing their eating habits with regular physical activity to burn excess calories.

A healthy lifestyle is implemented as soon as possible to help children to be more disciplined into adulthood.
2. Change the public perception that fat children are not always healthy
We often hear that big kids are funny and adorable. This view is not entirely wrong, but we still have to take into account the impact of obesity on health.
