These symptoms can appear suddenly (acute) or develop slowly in a few weeks or months (chronic). Contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital if your symptoms get worse or if the following conditions occur:

- Palpitations.
- Cough with pink mucus.
- Shortness of breath that does not subside with rest.
In cases of mild heart failure, symptoms are generally not felt, and people with this disease can undergo normal activities. But in severe heart failure, symptoms appear when the patient is active or even at rest.
