What is activated carbon?

Active activated charcoal is a substance that is often used to treat poisoning. Activated charcoal is a mixture of charcoal, wood and other ingredients.

Charcoal is called active when treated with high temperatures combined with gases and other oxidizing agents. In the medical world, activated charcoal is used as a poisoning medicine because it can increase the absorption capacity of dirty and toxic substances.

The ability of activated carbon to absorb impurities and poisons comes from a porous texture with a negative electrical charge. This is why coal can attract dirt, oil, and dust to the face.
The benefits of activated carbon face masks

Active charcoal masks have several benefits for the skin. One of them can attract excess oil to your skin. For those of you who have oily facial skin, wearing an activated charcoal mask once or twice a week can reduce oil stains on your face.

Charcoal masks should also be able to defeat acne. However, the fact is not very influential.

The use of charcoal masks is only effective in removing mild acne. For example, acne blackheads, whiteheads, and pustules (red pimples that contain pus) are not inflamed. This facial mask is not effective for treating zits or pimple problems.

Consider the following before using a charcoal mask

Charcoal cannot be absorbed through the skin. So, if used properly, it's most likely safe and secure.
Even so, you should not use excessive or frequent charcoal masks.

It is better to consult a dermatologist before using any type of mask. You are also advised to start by conducting an allergy test on the charcoal mask to use.

You do this by applying a small mask on the back of your hand the day before trying it on the face. If the skin turns red and stung, you should not proceed. If there are no side effects, you can use the appropriate amount safely.

Also note that the charcoal powder mask should not be inhaled into the airways. Charcoal can cause nausea and vomiting, gastrointestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation and respiratory complications.
