We must ignore the characteristics of this skin cancer, but be careful not to regret it
Unlike other types of cancer that cause pain in the body, the existence of skin cancer is sometimes not realized. The reason is that the characteristics of skin cancer can look like warts or moles.
Not infrequently skin cancer is detected when the disease is advanced. In fact, early detection of this cancer can increase the chances of recovery for those affected. To be more vigilant, it helps you learn more about the types and symptoms of skin cancer.
What are the types of skin cancer?
Like other types of cancer, skin cancer also occurs because of mutations that result in cell division that is too fast, abnormal, and dangerous. This growth causes the appearance of cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. Here are the three main types of skin cancer:
- Melanoma, a malignant skin cancer that attacks melanocyte cells (skin pigmentier). This type of cancer is rare, but is more susceptible to death than other types of cancer.
- Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), which is the growth of cancer cells in the skin just below the epidermis layer. CBC is a type of skin cancer besides melanoma that is commonly found.
- Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Like CBC, CSC also includes non-melanoma skin cancer, in which cancer cells multiply above the epidermal layer.
Do all three have the same skin cancer characteristics?
The three types of cancer above are marked by different symptoms. But all three have a common thread in presenting the most obvious symptoms, namely the growth of moles or new lesions on your skin.
Old moles that change shape, color, and size may also be one of the most common properties of skin cancer. Therefore, you must not be complacent and insult a mole that seems clumsy.
Apart from this equation, the three types of skin cancer above can also show different symptoms of skin cancer. Here is an example:
- CBC usually appears on the skin as a small mass with a shiny surface, smooth, and bleed easily. The growth site is used for your ears and neck. Apart from bumps, brown or reddish lesions can also occur on your arms or legs.
- SCC can be characterized by hard, reddish, and rough lumps. The surface of the lump may be scaly, difficult to touch, itchy, bleeding or crust.
- Melanoma usually causes symptoms in the form of clumps or moles that look abnormal and irregular, in terms of shape, size and color.
When should you see a doctor?
If you find a mole, lump or abnormal lesion on your skin, don't underestimate it. Visit a dermatologist immediately for a test. Especially if you feel the above symptoms and don't leave before four months.
Indeed, all irritating nodules or plaques do not have to have skin cancer characteristics. But it still doesn't hurt if you consult early so that treatment can be done as quickly as possible. The sooner your skin cancer is detected, the better your chance of recovery.
