Treatment of Dengue Fever

There is no specific method to deal with dengue fever. This treatment is done is to treat the symptoms and prevent the virus infection from worsening. The doctor will advise the patient to do the following:

• Drink plenty of fluids and rest.
• Eat fever-lowering drugs, to relieve fever. It's best to avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), because they can make bleeding worse.

In addition to giving patients various suggestions above, the doctor will also notify patients and elderly patients about signs of dehydration, and it is advisable to always pay attention to the amount of urine the patient has.

If necessary, the patient will be given intravenous fluids. Intravenous fluid will be accompanied by monitoring the heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and the amount of urine that comes out.

Fever may subside after 3-7 days. However, this condition can be an important step for patients. More serious symptoms can appear the next 1-2 days. In this phase, the doctor will continue to monitor the patient as long as the patient's body temperature drops to normal.
