Male Striated Muscle Saves a Higher Risk of Tumors

Striated muscle is a place that can cause tumors, both malignant and benign. Which includes the type of striated muscle is the heart muscle and skeletal muscle.
Striated muscle is muscle tissue that has a functional unit called a sarcomere. The presence of sarcomas in these muscles is in the form of a series of bands that appear along the muscle fibers when viewed under a microscope.

Types of tumors in striated muscles

Tumors derived from striated muscles consist of several types. To better understand, here are the types of tumors of striated muscle:
  • Rabdomioma or benign tumor of the striated muscle
Rabdomioma is a benign tumor, derived from striated muscle. This is a very rare tumor. This type of tumor is divided into two main types, namely neoplastic and hamartoma, and again into three subtypes, namely adult type, fetal type, and genital type. For this type of hamartoma, benign striated muscle tumors are divided into two parts, namely the heart rabbit (heart) and mesenchymal rhabdomyomatous cutaneous hamartoma. According to research, rabdomioma is most often found in men aged 25 to 40 years. However, fetal rabdomioma is more common in boys under three years.
Symptoms of rabdomioma depend on the type of patient, age and gender of the patient. Rabdomioma in adults is usually characterized by a lump in the neck area, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing and may be hoarse. People with fetal rabdomioma may have lumps under the scalp or around the neck.
Genital rabdomioma usually affects young or middle-aged women. This condition is usually characterized by pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia). Cardiac rabdomioma (heart) usually complains of shortness of breath. This type of rabdomioma is also sometimes associated with symptoms of cerebral palsy, cerebral palsy.
  • Rabdomiomasarkoma or malignant tumors in striated muscles
Malignant tumors can also develop in striated muscles, especially those related to bone or skeletal muscle. This cancerous tumor is usually called rabdomiosarcoma. Many areas of the body can be used for the growth of these malignant tumors. The most common rabdomiosarcoma locations are the head, neck, arms, legs, and urogenital tract. Rabdomiarcoma is one of the few tumors. Malignant soft tissue tumors most often affect children, especially children with certain congenital abnormalities. In addition, children from families with a history of certain genetic mutations are at greater risk of developing rabdomiosarcoma, although rarely, this cancer is considered dangerous because it can spread rapidly throughout the body. Early detection of these tumors is often late due to symptoms that are less visible.
Striated muscles are very important for the body because they are located in many vital organs. Striated muscle tumors can affect your health and daily activities. If you experience symptoms of a tumor in the striated muscle, you should immediately seek medical attention so that it can be treated immediately.
