Effective drug for dealing with joint and muscle pain

Joint and muscle pain is a problem that is often felt by everyone when traveling. Various drugs are effective for relieving joint pain. These medicines can be in the form of oral, injection or topical medications.

Staying too long, jumping, lifting heavy loads, exercising excessively and getting hurt are some of the causes of joint or muscle pain. Certain medical conditions such as osteoarthritis, gout, or rheumatoid arthritis can also be a cause of joint and muscle pain. In Indonesia, warm balm is usually used to treat joint pain and muscle aches. They believe that more balm will be more effective and faster for joint pain. A warm balm compress or hot water provides a warm and pleasant effect to the touch when applied to painful areas. Some experts even recommend ice packs wrapped in thin towels to further help ease pain. However, this method only reduces and provides immediate comfort, without overcoming inflammation that causes pain in the joints and muscles.

Effective drug for dealing with joint and muscle pain
Here are some medicines that you can use to treat joint pain:

Medicines (tablets, pills)

  • Paracetamol is effective in relieving mild joint pain without swelling. In addition to joint pain, paracetamol is also used to treat mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, menstrual cramps, toothaches, back pain, osteoarthritis and even to relieve fever.
  • Joint pain medications classified as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium can also be used to treat moderate to severe joint pain. Use only when you are sick or as directed by your doctor. Because NSAIDs can also have side effects, such as gastritis (gastritis) and potentially increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. A new class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Cox-2 inhibitors, are also effective in relieving pain with minimal side effects.
  • Your doctor may prescribe a stronger opioid if you experience severe joint pain. The use of this drug must be given under the supervision of a doctor because it can cause nausea, loss of consciousness, dependency and dependence.
  • Medications used to treat muscle cramps can be linked to NSAIDs to increase the effect of pain relief.

Topical or topical medication (cream or gel)

  • capsaicin
Topical medications (usually creams) that contain capsaicin can be used to reduce joint pain caused by arthritis and other conditions. Capsaicin helps send pain signals that will trigger the release of endorphins (chemicals in the body that resist pain). But cream with capsaicin can cause painful or spicy sensations in the area covered by this cream.
  • Diclofenac sodium
Topical medication containing diclofenac sodium is effective, safe and effective in relieving joint pain. Diclofenac sodium belongs to the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug group (NSAID) which works by stopping the production of substances that cause pain and inflammation. In addition to relieving pain, NSAIDs such as sodium diclofenac also have other effects such as fever and anti-inflammation. Apply the diclofenac sodium gel to the area of the skin that is experiencing pain to relieve pain or pain in the joints, such as knees, ankles, feet, elbows, wrists, and hands. Unlike cream with capsaicin, which causes intense heat, diclofenac sodium gel removes joint pain but remains comfortable on the skin. Topical medicines containing diclofenac sodium are also safe because they have minimal side effects, such as local skin irritation (dry skin or contact dermatitis). However, even these side effects usually occur when long-term use of the diclofenac sodium gel is used.

If you experience joint pain in many parts of your body, you can use oral diclofenac sodium. Talk to your doctor if you have a history of certain conditions or medical conditions, such as a history of heart disease, heart surgery, heartburn, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, drug allergies, smoking and asthma. Pregnant women and those using anticoagulants (anticoagulants) should also consult a doctor before taking this medicine. Children and adolescents under 18 years old cannot use this drug.

What you need to understand is that this drug is only used to treat pain and not the underlying cause. For sufferers of arthritis, joint disease or tendinitis who often suffer joint pain, the doctor will give them corticosteroid medication in the form of injections directly into the joint. In some cases, the doctor will also recommend surgery to remove fluid from the joints or joint replacement. If you experience side effects from the drugs mentioned above or if you are irritated after using creams or gels that eliminate joint pain, consult your doctor immediately for further treatment.
