Spanish League Standings Week Three: Fifth Madrid and Eighth Barcelona

- All Spanish League matches for the third week have been played. Atletico Madrid leads the standings, while Real Madrid and Barcelona are outside the top four.  The third week of LaLiga closes with the Villarreal v Madrid match on Monday (2/9/2019). Los Blancos were held to a 2-2 draw when they traveled to the headquarters of The Yellow Submarine.  One additional point puts Real Madrid into fifth place standings with five points. Zinedine Zidane's squad is four points adrift of the top standings, Atletico Madrid, who are still perfect with nine points after beating Eibar 3-2. Barcelona failed to continue the winning trend when they travel to the headquarters of Osasuna. Ernesto Valverde's team drew 2-2 and had to settle for eighth on four points.  In other matches, Athletic Bilbao won 2-0 over Real Sociedad. Three points won Los Leones in second place on seven points.  Third place is Sevilla, who were held to a 1-1 draw this week by Celta Vigo. Meanwhile Levante was ranked fourth after a 2-0 win over Valladolid.
